Acceptances for the first day of the FeUding Meeting close to-night at 8.30 o'clock.

Acceptanes for the first day of the Wairarapa Easter Meeting close to-night at 8 o'clock. .

Nominations for the Manawatu Racing Club's Autitmn Meeting and forfeits for the Manawatu Stakes and Sires' Produce Stakes are due to-morrow at 9 p.m.

The accident at the .turn at Hororata on Saturday ■ when Lady Clarenceux fell evidently made a bad impression on the other riders, and according to an eye-witness none.of the jeckeys took any risks in sub•eqiient races. The turn is a bad one, one of , the .worst in the Dominion. P. E. Jones, tne rider of Lady Clarenceux, was injured severely enough to prevent his riding again during the day, but he should befit again for the C.J.C. Meeting at Riccarton. <

Set Sail will be ridden in the Great Easter Handicap at Ricearton by C. Emerson. The Southern .mare lias plenty .of ■admirers. ;?

It is uncertain yet where Kilbronsyth will go at Easter, but probably he will be at■: Ellerslie for the Easter Handicap, in which he: will be ridden by H. Wiggins. The late decision is due to some doubt as to how he will gallop the reverse way:at Auckland, as he has not been going overkindly in his work the fight-handed way at Levin.

S.. Reid, will have his team well distributed at' Easter time. Grand Knight, Note, Spode, and Minotus go to Riccarton, Nadarino goes to Tauherenikau, and ,Indian Sage to Feilding.

Orchid is to race at Feilding at Easter time, but Inoe and Idanoe, also from H. B: Lbrigan's stable, will be at Tauherenikau. ' ■ .

Reremoana has done well since the Wanganui Meeting, and he,should be in keen demand for the A.R.C. Easter Handicap. Inhere is. not much doubt that he was ,a long way from being keyed up. in the Jackson Stakes^yet he defeated his stablemate, Lady Cavendish, in a desperate finish. Lady Cavendish is also going to Auckland, her special mission being the Avondale Club's All-Aged Stakes. Hipo, who has the luxurious weight of 7.11 in the A.RiC. Easter Handicap, is being discussed very seriously by Taranaki enthusiasts. It is said he showed a flash of his old form at Opunake, but previously this season he was very disappointing^ Back to his best, at 7.11, one would lipt need to look any further, but perhaps it may be as well not to take too much for granted. .

Civility was still doing smart work ©n:the "Wanganui tracks last week, and if' she gallops up Jo her track form she will be hard to beat in the Great Easter Handicap. She is due to leave to-night for the South. Commendation Was also booked for to-night's steamer. It was learned at Bulls from. W. Rayfier that Lysander was pleasiug his trainer by his work on the Wanganui course, and was doing a great deal better than the public 'Were being led to believe by some "Wanganui reports. 'Caipipore will be ridden, by W. S. Bagby in the A.R.C. Easter Handicap. Tff.' H. Jones probably will pilot Charlady.^ J. Gray will oe on Tall Timber. Comment was made in an article published ;in this column on 11th January on Maunu's ■ running in the hurdle race at Heefton. The statement was made that, although : there was a demonstration, "nothing was done and the dividends were paid out on Maunu without question." Exception is taken to this statement by Mr. A. M. Carroll,, secretary of the Reefton' Jockey Club, who writes that the 'criticism was not justified. "As a matter of fact," states Mr. Carroll, "the tptalisator was held up for some considerable time while the inquiry was being held." In fairness to the Reef ton Jockey Club we publish this explanation. There was a fair amount of fast work at Trentham on Saturday morning. The Surveyor juvenile, Theodolite, galloped the best half-mile, registering 51sec. Mdderu was too good for. Misgovern over seven furlongs in' lmin 34sec, while Grand Knight, accompanied by Outfit over the last, six, took lmin 35sec for a similar distance, going easily. Note covered five furlongs in: lmin ssec,. and Spode registered a good working gallop over six furlongs. Nadarino and Indian Sage were allotted steady pace work. Master Peter and Dubious both galloped well, while Sarty and Degage finished well ahead of Tannadiee in a gallop over six furlongs, but Tannadiee is a bad track worker. •'. . -:

Master Peter and Dubious are to be raced at the Wairarapa Meeting. Master Petfer is in-great health. .The luck of racing was r ••mplified at the. Hororata Meeting on Saturday in the principal event. There was a very small acceptance, and only because he was approached by stewards of the club did Mr. J." G. Macdonald consent to run Corinthic in'the Hororata Cup, thus making four runners. He wished to race her in a minor event. Corinthic started the absolute : outsider and won.
