A GUN ACCIDENT

AUCKLAND, This Day
Mavis Mace, aged about 19, who had half her face blown away by the explosion of a gun, which, it is understood, she was cleaning, .jhows some slight improvement to-day. Miss Mace was alone in. the house at the time of the accident. A neighbour, hearing a sercam, ifished in, and caught Miss Mace as she. fell. . Blood was streaming from her face, the bullet having entered the left nostril below the ncse and shattered tho right cheek bone. Her mother states that her daughter was a bright, jolly girl. The accident is an absolute mystery. As far as she knew the daughter had nothing to worry about. , ■
