BOATING FATALITY
ACCIDENT AT SAMOA,
The Minister for the Cook Islands has been advised by the Administrator of AVestern Samoa of the receipt of the following message from the Governor of American Samoa: —"Received report from naval station ship Tanager, now at Tau (Manna group', American Samoa), that four Polynesians left Penrhyn Island, in the Northern Cook group, for Tahiti on 22nd February, in a sail bpat, which capsized on 9 f,h March. They righted the boat next day, after losing food, compass, and mainsail, and then drifted with ,the wind and current, landing at Tau on 24th March. The names of those in the boat were: Tciho Ford. Akatupuria, Quii't and Hiro Williams, master. Tciho Ford was lost when the boat, broke up on the reef. Have informed American Consul at Tahiti. Will you advise Ponrhyn f"
The Cook Islands Department is arranging for the survivors to bo brought to Auckland, to await the departure of ths Hineraoa, about the end of April, for the Cook group, including a visit to Ponrhyn.
