AN OLD LEADER RETIRES

(United Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 24th March, 11.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. Mr. G. M. Prendergast, Leader, of the Victorian State Labour Party, has resigned owing to ill-health and advancing years. Ho will probably be succeeded, by the present deputy-leader, Mr. Hogan.

Mr. Prendergast has been a member of the Legislature in Victoria for 31 years, having been first elected in 1894 representing Melbourne North. He has been Leader of the Labour Party since 1904, and was bora at Adelaide in 1854.
