NEGLECTED GRAVE
IN COUNTRY CHURCHYARD
WHERE LORD FRENCH, OF YPRES, LIES\
COMMANDEB OF '' OLD jjCONTEMPTIBLBS."
— ■ '* (United Press Association— Copyright.) (Australian-New Zealand Cable Assn.) (Beceived 24th March, 9 a.m.) LONDON, 23rd March. The "Daily Chronicle" Bays that in the quiet village churchyard at Eipple, in Kent, is an insignificant grass-cov-ered mound surmounted by a few withered leafless twigs. This sadly-neglected spot is no other than the grave of Lord French, of Ypres, Commander of "The Old Contemptibles.'' The paper points out that hundreds visit the churchyard weekly, yet are unable to find the grave without the aid of the sexton, and recalls that the funeral was attended by great crowds of civilians and military personages. Now a few feet of turf sinking at the end is the only indication of the resting place of one of England's greatest warriors.
