"THE DIGGERS."
"The Diggers" are back in Wellington, with an entertainment as bright and amusing ■as ever. For two and a half hours at the Grand Opera House they keep the mirth and melody going at a swift pace. There is ample variety m their entertainment; songs, amusing sketches and dances. The concluding sketch of the performance, "In Hospital," is remarkably clever and humorous. The performances of Messrs. G. P. Hanna and Joe Valli in this sketch mark them as comedians of merit. Another sketch of serious type but equally meritorious is' "Armentieres," introducing a melody which became popular among the troops. "Mr.' Gallagher and Mr. Sheen (Messrs; Hanna and Gilbert) appear in a novel marionette interpretation of the well-known number, and Mr. Hanna, on. his own account, presents a view of the drill-sergeant as he appeared to the recruits. There are some good voices in the company, and ballads are quite a feature of the entertainment. Mr. Jock Thomson is a good baritone, Miss Vera Carew a pleasing soprano, and Messrs. Jim Faran ana Brian Lawrence are the tenors. The ballet and the orchestra help to keep the show lively; There will be a complete.change of programme on Thursday night. '
