■ *_ —_ ■ ; Sir John Eoberta arrived from the South to-day. Mr. Campbell Begg has returned to Wellington. Dr. M. T. MacEaohern, AssistantDirector American College of Surgcons ; left for Napier and Rotorua this morning- ■ ' Captain T. M. ; Wilkes, M.C., staff officer, New Zealand Air Force, was a passenger by the "Wahine from Lyttelton this morning. Mr. H. S. Griffin, Secretary for Na tive Affairs under the Administration of Western Samoa, arrived at Auckland by the Tofua yesterday on a slioit health visit. The Hon. Sir James Parr (Minister of Education) returned to Wellington from Blenheim yesterday. On Saturday night the Minister is to be entertained at a dinner by the Wellington members of the Auckland Grammar School Old Boys' Association. Sir James is an "old boy" of the school. Mr. Zane Grey, who has been fishing in the north for the past two'months, has broken camp and with the members of his party will return to Auckland on Thursday. The noted writer and angler will spend some time fishing at Taupo before returning to America. Mr. C. Alma Baker, of the Straits Settlement, and Mr. B. Horsburgh, of Edinburgh, have also returned to Auckland from the Bay of Islands. There was a large attendance of members and adherents of the Brooklyn Methodist Church last evening to bid farewell to the Rev. Cecil B. Taylor on his transfer to Greytbwn. Mr. H. P. Mourant (chief circuit steward) occupied the chair, and there were also present the chairman of the Wellington district (the Rev. W. Greenslade), the Bey. Rollings (representing the Baptist Church), Sister Bessie (Aro street), and the Rev. J. R. Beerloy (Webb street). Apology for absence was received from the superintendent of the circuit (the Bev. Clarence Eaton). Complimentary references were made to the excellent work carried out by Mr. Taylor, and he was handed a wellfilled wallet. Opportunity was also taken to congratulate Mr. Taylor on his forthcoming marriage, and a presentation was made to Mrs. Taylor, sen., on behalf of the ladies of the congregation. All present joined in wishing Mr. Taylor continued success in his ministry. A musical programme, arranged by Mrs. Douglas White, was greatly appreciated.
