INDUSTRIAL ASSOCIATIONS
NEW ZEALAND PRESIDENTS MEET IN CONFERENCE.

The conference yesterday of presidents of Dominion Industrial Associations was attended by Mr. E. H. Marriner (Christehureh), president of the New Zealand Industrial Association, who presided; Messrs. J. A. C. Allum (Auckland), F. Campbell (Wellington), J. Hogg (Otago), and I. Somerville (Dunedin). There were also present: Messrs. J. W. Collins, Secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce; J. Findlay, secretary of the Auckland Association; B. I. M. Edmond, secretary of tbe Wellington Association, and G. W. Reid, secretary of the Dunedin Association. Arrangements were made for the visit of Sir Frank Heath, to Dunedin from 23rd to 25th February.
It was decided to ask the Government to reopen the whole 'tariff question, and to undertake a revision of it. In this connection the matter of duty on motor-cars is to be taken up energetically.
The Australian exhibition train was discussed, and it was decided to take in hand the organisation of a similar publicity scheme in New Zealand.
The appointment of a New Zealand organiser was discussed, and deferred until next meeting. The holding of a New Zealand shopping week throughout the Dominion was recommonded.
The relationship 6t the Dunedin Manufacturers' Association to the Industrial Corporation of New Zealand was discussed and deferred for future consideration.
