ILONDON, 11th February.
Dr. H.. E. Cox, the well-known analyst, in a special communication to the Society of Public Analysts, says that out of 39 samples of apples, only five were free from arsenic, and eleven contained more than the statutory limit. Arsenic was found in the flesh of the fruit to the extent of 3 per cent. of that On the skin. Contrary to the general view, arsenic could not be removed by washing the fruit under a tap. Even scrubbing left an appreciable amount on the skins.
