A BIG SHIPMENT
FIVE THOUSAND MOTOE VEHICLES FOB NEW ZEALAND.

AUCKLAND,. 11th February. • Nearly 4500 motor-cars for New' Zealand, M well as hundreds of motortractors, arrived from Canada by the Canadian Government steamer Canaddian Spinner, which reached Auckland from Halifax ■ yesterday morning. The average value of the motor-cars imported into New. Zealand last year was about £190," bo that cars on the ship represent a value of about £850,000. Practically the! whole of the Canadian fapinner's cargo consisted of motor im-, ports. Besides ears, she carried a large quantity of motor parts and tractors. Auckland's share of the cargo weighs 2400 tons, including 1280 cars and 306 tractor*. The remainder of the cargo ia for southern"""ports. Apart from other motor goods, Wellington is to receive 1980 cars, Lyttelton ,239, Timaru 667, and Dunedin 256.
The Canadian Spinner's consignment of cars has been exceeded at least once before, when a steamer of the Canadian Government Line brought over 5000 cars for New Zealand ports.
