THE BRITISH TEAM

Home by the Arawa next Wednesday.

. By a coincidence, two Crawf ords were drawn against each other—the wellknown Karori skip and the British player. The Karori man, however, was too good, and his risk won by 37 points to 16, being the only local team to score a win.

A delightful afternoon tea was provided by a committee of ladies under Mrs. Johnson, wife of the president of the Thorndon Club.

'Among the British players was Mr. Melbourne Orchard, formerly of Christehureh, Nqw Zealand, but now of England, wEb was largely instrumental in arranging the preliminaries of' the tour. He played No. 3 for Mr. Wright, the British captain, against Thorndon, and was in good form.

Totals—British, 171; Combined Clubs, 127. \

ANOTHER WIN AGAINST LOCAL

CLUBS

Once more victory went to the visitors, who were successful by XTu points to 127.

Tti welcoming the visitors, Mr. G. Jonnson, president of the Thorndon Club, said* they all knew that the Britishers were true sportsmen and good fellows. He congratulated the team on the number of wins secured on the tour, and hoped sincerely that it would not be long before they paid another visit to New Zealand. (Applause.)

The British captain (Mr. G. Wright) thanked the clubs concerned for the tearty reception which had been given them. It was what they had been given to expect before they arrived in New Zealand, and he was pleased to Bay that they had-met none but true sportsmen. Of the games played they had practically an equal number of win&iand losses. They might have done better, perhaps, were it not for the continual round of pleasure and. the ■plendid way they had been received everywhere. "■ ■ .
