In the eotrne of the honing at Whakstans of charges of sly-grog Belling against Boa and other Maoris, it was stated that Baa's kitchen at Matahi was the place where the liquor was mostly consumed, and good business had evidently been carried on there. The police stated it was common knowledge that Bua trafficked in liquor, and that the Natives could, obtain liquor from him. The sum of £110 was paid into Court oa account of fines.
