AMERICAN ATHLETES
SATURDAY'S MEETING. The American athletes, Jackson Scholz and Lloyd Hahn, are competing at a sports meeting at Levin this evening, and will return to Wellington to-morrow. They are to appear at Athletic Park on Saturday afternoon at a meeting which is being looked upon as the most important of their tour. Both visitors are in great form, and with everything in order at the Park on Saturday they should register notable performances. The second contest between Hahn and R. A. Rose should provide one of the greatest mile races ever seen in the Dominion. Bose is confident of Improving upon his splendid performance at Masterton last Saturday, while Hahn is leaving nothing to chance. The champion sprinter will be opposed by« some of the Dominion's best runners, and in his races there should also be performances of the highest order. Thfi programme is long and well varied, and a full afternoon of great sport ia assured. Intending patrons desirous of obtaining accommodation in the stand are advised to make application without delay. CIVIC RECEPTION. The visiting athletes are to be tendered a civic reception at the Town Hall to-morrow, at 5.15 p.m. The Mayor (Mr. C B. Norwood) will preside.
