LABOUR AND DOMINIONS
MACDONALD REPROVED.
(Australian-New Zealand Cable Attsn.) LONDON, 9th February.
Commenting on Mr. J. R. Mac Donald's dictum that there is urgent need of Labour missionaries in the colonies, where people are deceived by Tory fictioni, the "Morning Post" says:— "Dominion politicians are not in the habit of taking Actions for facts. The Australians, of whom Mr. Mac Donald seems to especially complain, are vitally interested in the safety of Eastern communications. They knew how the Socialists crabbed Singapore. Mr. MacDonald himself has just" had another fling regarding the use of Trincomali as a naval base. If the Socialists want to be popular in Australia and New Zealand, they should not disregard their safety. The attitude, of Labour towards Imperial preference, the recent shipping strike, are other difficulties. Mr. Mac Donald is also shocked that the colonies take the Red bogey seriously. If Labour wants the good opinion of the Dominions, it should cease flirting with Britain enemies.
