VISIT OF INDIAN TEAM.
A special meeting of the executive of thfi Wellington Hockey Association was held on Monday evening to discuss the question of a match between the Indian Army, hockey team, which is coming to New Zealand in May next, and.a Wellington representative team.
It was decided that the New Zealand Hockey Association be asked to ar range a match either on the King's Birthday (3rd June) or on a Saturday.
The Indian team consists of fifteen persons, three of whom are British Army officers, and the remainder Sikhs. The natives are of the finest type of Indians—tall, dignified men, of fine physique. They are all bearded, and wear the beard parted on either side of the / face and "curled" alongside the cheek-
bones. Hockey is an actual part of their physical exercises, so that they have attained a very high standard of proficiency; and the New Zealand teams which meet the Indian combination will have a hard nut to crack. The only thing likely to worry tie visitors would be heavy grounds, as, no doubt, they are accustomed to very fast grounds.
The tour is to be an extensive one, comprising some eighteen matches, so that the visitors will test out our standard of play pretty thoroughly throughout the whole Dominion.
