SOVIET AND ARMS CONFERENCE.
(Australian-New Zealand Cable Asm.) (Received 9th February, 0 a.m.)
LONDON, Bth February. The Geneva correspondent of tht "Daily Express" states that the negotiations aiming at conciliation between Russia and Switzerland kave broken down. The Soviet maintains humiliating conditions for attendance at any conference in Switzerland. The Disarmament Conference may therefore be held at Evian Lea Bains, as without Russia the Conference will be useless.
Evian Le^j Bains is a French town oa Lake Geneva.
The objection of the Soviet to setting foot in Switzerland is due to the assassination of the Soviet envoy, M. Vorosky, in May, 1923, at Lausanne, by a Russian named Conradi, who claimed to have lost his parents through Bolshevik outrages during the Bnssian revolution. The crime was committed during tho negotiations which led to the' Treaty of Lausanne. Conradi was acquitted on the. charge of murder, and released.
