BRYANT AND MAY, BELL AND CO.
The annual picnic of the staff and employees of Bryant and May, Bell and Co., Ltd., was held on Saturday last at Maori Bank, Upper Hutt. About 125 employees and friends made the journey in buses to the beautiful riverside picnic ground, and a thoroughly enjoyable day was spent. Lunch and tea were served on the ground, and the day was passed at competitions, games, and sports. The following are the results of the sports: Girls' race, V. Berry 1, A. Dawson 2. Ladies', race, L. Farrow 1, I. Broe 2. Brymay handicap (ladies), V. Berry L E. Martin 2. Brymay handicap (men), S. Smith 1,. A. M'Ghie 2. Three-legged race, Miss Farrow and L. Wilton 1, Miss V. Berry and C. Marsh 2. Elopement race, Miss Chandler and A. Powers 1, Miss Timothy and J. MTJermott 2. Thread-needle race, Miss Pycrott and B. Weepu 1, Mr. and Mrs. Cowie 2. Relay race, First Floor (Misses Farrow and Harris and Messrs. Wilton and Smith). Old men's race, F. Humphreys 1, G. Hall 2. Tug-of-war, First Floor (Wilton, Hardham, Tidmen, Cowie), 1. Naildriving, Miss Fulton 1, Miss Crispin and Mrs. Gowie tied for second place.
