There have been very many wonderful first nights in the Grand Opera House, but they all nalo into comparative insignificance with last Saturday night, when Mr. Guy Bates Post and his brilliant supporting company electrified a crowded and representative audience in the great dra-matic-success, "The Masquerader." Mr. Post's wonderful achievements in America and Australia have won for him a. liame second to Kone among the world's greatest dramatic stars, and that the great actor more than lived up to that reputation was fully demonstrated by the appreciation aroused by his brilliant genius in a role that calls for the very highest in dramatic art. There was great enthusiasm at the end of »aeh' act, and the final fall of;the curtain witnessed one of the moat thrilling demonstrations which has ever occurred in a, New Zealand theatre.
