CITY COUNCIL STAFF.
I . Members of the staff of the City Council on Friday held their annual picnic and sports at Williams Park,. Day's Bay, the weather, but for a shower in the morning, being altogether pleasant. Tennis, excursions into the bush, and games were indulged in, but the chief attraction was the sports meeting held in the pavilion grounds. Picnic sports are not as other - sports, they are held for the ■ fun of:the thing, and spectators and competitors enjoyed themselves thoroughly. The results were as follow:—Men's Race, 100 yards: Nicholl, 1; M'Donald, 2. Ladies' I Race, 50 j'ards: Miss Taylor 1;. Miss I Smith, 2. Men's Wheelbarrow Race: I Swinburne and Yeomans> Men's Apple- ! bobbing Competition: Free, 1. Boys' ! Apple-bobbing Competition: Mitehinson, 1. Relay Race: Milk Department, 1; Treasury, 2. Married Women's Race, 50 yards: Mrs. Tilyard, 1; Mrs. Wood, 2. Men's Race (over. 35 and under 45 years), 50 yards: F. Lantuck, 1. Men's Race (over 45 years): Bell, 1. Men's Race, 220 yards: E. M'Donald, 1; V. Hayes, 2. Men's Sack Race, 50 yards: Aston, 1. Cigarette Race: Smith, 1. Men's Threelegged Race, Lee and Weaver, 1; Smith aha Yeomans, 2. Egg and Spoon Race: Miss Taylor. Thread-the-needle Race: D. Hogan, 1: D. Cragg, 2. Men's Race, 440 yards: Scobie 1; Russo, 2. Motortire Race, 220 yards: Weaver, I; Kirkby, 2. ■ -. ■ ■ ■
