ACCIDENTS DURING A RACE

AUCKLAND, 31st January. During the running of the Takapuua Hurdles nt Devonport on Saturday, six horses came down, and their ridqrs sustained more or less serious injuries. Threee jockeys were in consequence sent to hospital. E. Preston, rider of Daddy's Girl, sustained a broken jaw, and was ehaken. Ryan, rider of Mangahera, w»s also knocked about. Fielding, rider of Irish Jig, had his collarbone broken. In the Suburban Handicap, Driscoll, rider of Air Queen, was unseated and sustained bruises on the back.
