Bush fires in the eastern ranges are causing extensive damage/ and residents are fleeing before the flames.'
The bush fire has now passed the Murrumbidgee, and is approaching the north-west slopes of Mount Strom : 10, on the slopes of ■■which are pine plantations that cost huge sums, and on the top of which is the Commonwealth Observatory.
Men are being gathered from all parts of the district, and rushed to the scene.
