PORIRUA AMATEUR MEETING.

A long programme of amateur athletic events was got off well to time by the Porirua Athletic Club yesterday. The Miramar Band" enlivened the proceediccs. Following was the result: — Local Mambers' 100 Yards Race^— E. Meikle, 1; D. Martin, 2; M'Kee, 3. Won by two yards. Time, 11 2-ssec. ' 100 Yards Junoir Handicap (under 18 years) .-H. Scaife, 220 yds, 3 V The race was a gift to Clark, who overlapped his opponents in the first five rounds, and never gave them a.chance, finishing 100 yards ahead. The other two placed men were fairly close together. Time, Dmin lOsec. The motor-tire events created a great deal of excitement, J. Denny and George Sievers winning easily from eight others,' and Joan Oliver and Margaret Cowan winning the girls event from six others.
