RIVAL BUS OFFERS

THE RAROA ROAD DISTRICT.

A meeting of residents of the Raroa road-Taitville district >-was held in the Raroa Road Presbyterian Schoolroom last evening for the purpose of considering proposed buu services, and was largely attended. Mr. N,. I. Gooder presided. Mr. J. Mills, representing the Kel-burn-Karori Bus Company, said that, provided sufficient inducement were offered, his company was prepared to meet the needs of the district. The company's present bus run from tho Kelburn car to Karori was a little unweildy for th# Plunket street-Raroa road route, but the company was quite prepared to put on a smaller bus to serve the district if sufficient inducement offered, running via Plunket street: and Raroa road. The fares suggested were 2d by concession ticket and 3d cash to Moana road, and 3d-by concession ticket and 4d cash to Hatton street. > The company would be prepared to run the new bus at times to suit,the residents of the district, and to commence in a month's time from date of acceptance of the offer. (Applause.) The chairman stated that as a result of an interview he had had with Mr. Cable, manager of the City Tramways, he was empowered to state that the City Coimcil'-had ordered three powerful light buses for the hill services, and contemplated running a suitable service for^ the district from Te Aro Post Office, via Ghuzneo street, The Terrace, Mount, street, Glasgow street,' Upland road, and Plunket street, to Raroa road. This service would be run alternately via The Terrace from Bowen street, and Te Aro Post Office, and would be available in six weeks.

After discussion, Messrs. N. I. Gooder, W. H. Cooper, J. Moffit, and Captain Munro were appointed a committee to confer with Mr. Cable and the Kelburn-Karpri Bus Company, and to secure written offers from both as to time-table and fares, and submit the same to a future meeting.
