WEATHER AND ATTENDANCE GOOD

GOLD CUP TO DOLLY DILLON.

After rain overnight the weather - cleared in good style for the Wellington Trotting Club's Summer Meeting, and the fine morning attracted a large attendance of trotting enthusiasts. The track was in excellent order, and was conducive to fast times. Golden Bubbles began smartly and led down the back from Steel Wire and Sungleam, but Steel Wire broke up at the end of three furlongs, and Golden Bubbles and Sungleam drew away. Down the back for -the last time Bittern made a forward move' and Sungleam "skipped." In line > for home, Sungleam gradually wore down Golden Bubbles, to win by a head. Fille-de-Ballin took chafge at the end of half a mile from Black Palm, Little Johnnie, and Peter Mac Donald. 'Black Palm was breaking up all the time. Peter MacDonald made a good run down the back the last time, and closed on Fille-. de-Ballin, but the latter stayed best, and Peter Mac Donald, breaking up in the last few strides, Fille-de-Ballin ■won by a length. Round the back the last time, Biddy Logan had a good lead from Arran Chief, George the Fourth, and Zolock Palm, who made a great run. Biddy Logan did not put much heart-into her-finish when collared by Arran Chief, and was beaten home by eight lengths.
