Mr. 11.I 1. W. Nicholson, manager for New Zealand of the National Mutu:«l Life Association, has received the following cable from his head office in Melbourne: "The 56th annual general meeting of members was held on the 23rd of December last. The new business for the year was particularly satisfactory—ls,s96 new policies were issued assuring £7,051,898 —an increase of £772,000 on the previous year's figures. The total income for the year, after deducting re-assm-an^i! premiums was £4,278,987 —an increase of £745,000. The very large sum of £2,242,000 was added to the assurance funds, which now stand at £22,607,250. The gross interest carnod is equal to £5 16s Id per cent!, and after, deduction of rates and taxes amounting to £51,497, the net interest is equal to £5 lls 4d on the mean funds. After further strengthening the reserves, the bonus to be declared in March, 1926, will bo larger than that allotted last year. Altogether the report is a most satisfactory one, and members may well be proud, of belonging to so strong and woll-maa-aged an office."
