A PREOCCUPIED PRESS

THE LEAGUE'S MOSUL DECISION

MB. BALDWIN'S PROFESSION OF FRIENDLY FEELINGS.

(UMTED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYMOHT.)

(PUBLISHED IN THE TIMES.)

(Eeceived 29th December, 10 a.m.) LONDON, 28th December.

The Constantinople correspondent o.C "The Times" says the League's Mosul decision continues to preoccupy the Turkish Press, which has received Mr. Baldwin's profession of friendly feelings with derision and scepticism. The papers demand acts, not promises, and declare that until Turkey's right to Mosul is satisfied all promises of consolations will be regarded simply as irony.

It is still-believed that a large minority, if not an actual majority, of the British people disapprove of its Government's policy, but Turks are wisely not putting too much faith in the fall of the Baldwin Cabinet, and therefore are daily congratulating themselves on the Russian Treaty, which is described as tho first step in Turkey's preparations to guarantee her security.
