MESSAGES OF GOODWILL
FROM- CANADA AND " AUSTRALIA. On the occasion of the opening of the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition at Dune din the Prime Minister received the following cable messages.of goodwill from the Prime Ministers of Canada and Australia: — On the occasion of the opening of the New Zealand and South Seas International Exhibition at Dunedin, on behalf of the Government and people of Canada, I desire to extend hearty greetings and the best of wishes for its sueeess and for the development therefrom of closer commercial relations and increased intercourse between all parts of His Majesty's Dominions. Canada is proud to have the privilege of participating.—'(Signed) Mackenzie King, Ottawa, 13th November. ■ ' Oh behalf of tho people of the Commonwealth' of Australia, I, wish to offer my congratulations on the occasion of tlio opening of the New Zealand and South Seas International Exhibition at Dunedin, and to.express the.liest wishes of the Commonwealth for its success. The Exhibition, besides providing ,au excellent- .advertisement for New Zealand products' ami manufactures and for the Dominion generally, should prove, of immense value in developing and expanding interimperial trade and in the promotion of closer relationship between the different parts of the Empire, with consequent advantage to all.
The -reciprocal' tariff arrangements between the Dominion and the Commonwealth have already i roved beneficial. The Australian Court at the Exhibition furnishes New Zealandcrs with an' opportunity of seeing Australian products and manufactures, and it is hoped that 'the result will be an expansion of trade between the Dominion and the C ur.onwealth, with mutual advantage to both. — (Signed) Prime Minister^ Melbourne, 16th November. ■ '■ -
