Ei Hall to a Peruvian firm Trill remove from the New Zealand trado' a vessel which is well knowii in NewZealand waters. ■ ' : Sinee 1 she was launched at Blakely, Washington, Oregon,.in 1902, the H. B^. Hall, ofj 123,7 tons, has become; famous among sailors, not only because of «the, smart, passages, she has made, but also because of. Ilia-, fact that she is recognised-as one of the finest vessels'of her class. Her record of fast sailing, lunfever, 1 was broken. this year, when she arrived, at Callao, I Peru, after, a prolonged voyage of ,139. | days from Newcastle; Australia. '.„ So, proud of the vessel was he.that, tho owner nanied her after himself. For some years she traded .on tho Pacific Coast, being one of, a fleet of - fif teen at one period owned... by Mri.' Hall. K. Hall was chartered, to load-wheat,' but the charter was cancelled. Later she loaded jam at ' Tasmania for .Manila, but the voyage was stopped and the jam unloaded. The ..third effort' to ; sail also proved unsuccessful,' and rabbits!)ins' and lumber valued at-; about; £30,000 had to be unloaded at, Sydney. In.' 1917_ she was sold for £35,000, aiid loaded for. Vancouver.; :Two' .years later, when, bound from ; Sydney.'to Melbourne, sho was struck, by a galo aiullos't allhersa^ls.'.. In September; 1922, the vessel; was bought ,by the New Zealand , Gluo Company, of Christehurch,- but lay idle at Lyttelton until Juno of tho. ■following year, when she waa dispatched to Maiden Island to load guaiijtt.for. Duuedin. .; The cargo was never loaded, because 'tho'.sailer was' 1 stranded at Maldern Island, and then" put into Barctpnga! leaking. As the pumps were inadequate'.to.,cope with the leakage the schooner, left. Baro-. tonga for repairs at Sydney. Tho following month the H. K. Hall arrived, but lay idle at Sydney 'for.V whole year, when she was purchased by licr'latc oiyncr, Mr. G. H. George, of -'Auckland.
