PRESS V. WELLINGTON LEAGUE
An all-day match was played at Kelburn Park yesterday between teams representing the Combined Press und' the Wellington Cricket League. Press had the first use-of the wicket, and 1 they compiled 116 (Hawthorn ' 32, Freeman 27, Hendry 17, and Ryan 12). Bowling for League, Lingiird took four wickets for 8 runs and Taylor two for 33. The League team replied with 141 (Erskine' •43, E. Taylor 31, Lingard 17, Cook 11); Perkins was the most successful bowler for Press, taking three wickets for 22. Despite an initial collapse in the second innings, Press scored 104 (Hawthorn 72 not out, Perkins 12, M'Donald 11). Miller took three wickets for 47. Tn their second innings League made 94 for the. loss of four wickets (Cruickshanks 41 not out, Cook 21. Taylor 14). M'Donald took, two wickets for 7 runs.
