A DESERVING CASE

TO TUB EDITOR. Sir, —A few "weeks ago there passed . away suddenly a returned soldier, leaving a widow and a boy under fourteen. For the past four years ho had been running a small. business, which has since proved to bo insolvent to the extent of £200. Among his assets was a house which was occupied by himself and family, and which lie was purchasing under tho. instalment system, and which is not yet paid for. In order to meet tho business liabilities it will be necessary to sell this house, and in that case' the widow would be homeless; she could make, a living by taking in boarders providing tho house can be saved. I want to raise that £200, and am quite sure it can be done, and 1 write this to ask those of your readers who feel they can to send me something, however small. There is no suggestion of carelessness in the business, and all money sent to mo will lie handed over to the Public Trustee, who is winding up the estate. I do not want to publish names ; I want all who give to trust my word that it is a. deserving case. We havo a fortnight more in which to raise the money, which may be sent direct to myself or to the office of your- paper. Please do me the kindness of inserting this letter, and thereby rendering that assistance which is so indispensable.—l am, etc.,

T. FEILDKN TAYLOR, St. Peter's Mission, 26th October.
