DEATH OF A NOTED GUIDE

AUCKLAND, This Day. Margaret Rangotukia, better knOTTi as Kate, a guide, died at Whakaiaae last Friday, said to be 100 years old. She was born at the mission station at Opotiki, and was at one time a guide at Rotorua. She conducted the late Duke of Edinburgh and the present King, \rhen they visited the tienuai district! On the occasion of the Tara'wera eruption, Kate was instrumental in the rescue, of a nnmbei- of children. She also rescued people from a capsraasd canoe in one of the lakes.
