May I mention that for months past water has been lying some feel deep in Clyde street. Island Pay, ami has now reached Uic staGnant staj?e. This water is. lying on ground immediately opposite the public school, and in consequence crowds of children play in and around this germ-laden water, which is a happy breeding ground for mosquitoes, cle.

Now, Sir, both the City Council and the Health Department have been notified of this state of affairs, and yet nn steps have been taken to cleanse thir spot. It is useless to lock the stable after the liorao has gone, and unless something j s done, and that immediately and effectively, before the hot weather sets in, Island Bay may be faced with a serious outbreak of sickness. Surely the Mayor, or those responsible for the welfare of the citizens will take the necessary steps to clean up the district.—l am, etc., ISLAND BAY. 24th October.
