AUSTRALIAN LADIES' PIPE BAND.
A farewell concert was given on Saturday night in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall by members of the Australian Scottish Ladies' Pipe Band, which is touring the world, under tho leadership of Drum-Major William Darwin, F.R.G.S., and PipeMajor Jcssio Young. The band had completed a tour of the South, Island, anrl en Saturday afternoon came across from Picton, experiencing a rough passage with the majority of their members sea-sick. Many items were given, of which tho following proved most popular: Songs, Piper Flora Ash: minuet and selection by the band girls; recitations, Drummer Lcura Bates; staff swinging, DrumMajor Darwin; sailors' hornpipe, Pipers Gertie Oliver and Jean Madson: pipe solo, Pipe-Sergeant Dolly M'Pherson; recitation, Drummer Bates; songs, jokes, and stories, the band girls; Highland dancing, Piper -Gertie Oliver. During the interval, Drum-Major Darwin outlined the itinerary of the band, which is to visit Suva, Honolulu, Canada, the United States, Great Britain, Trance, and Africa.
