DE LUXE THEATRE.

For over thirty years "Charley's Aunt" has amused thousands of peoplo in all parts of tho world as tho greatest laughter-maker of tho spoken stage. Now comes the screening of "Charley's Aunt," tho admittedly funniest play of tho English-speaking stage, which is showing this week at, tho De Luxe Theatre. The name part is taken by Syd. Chaplin, a, brother of the famous Charlie, but whose humour is of an entirely different character. Supports include comedy, scenic, and tho usual Topical Gazette. Mr. L. D. Austin's large orchestra plays "The Fortune Teller " (Herbert) as .an overture, "Tho Cuckoo" (Orenslcy) as tho entr'acte, and incidental music selected from favo.urito light operas. "QUO VADIS." Quo Vadis," as produced by the First National Company, will have its initial screening at the De Luxe Theatre next Friday.' There are a large number of characters, in all 20,000, and the feature of the production L? the very fine acting witnessed in all the leading parts. As Nero himself, perhaps tho most of all degraded creatures who ever denied the Imperial Throne, Emil Jennings is most impressivo and convincing. The brutal cruelty, tho colossal egotism, the petty vanity, and the wretched snivelling cowardice of the man, are all portrayed in vivid and unmistakable colours. ■■ All through the picture the interest of the spectacle on a grand scale and the interest of a romantic and charming love story are. both prominent.. Prominent among £he characters are Lygeia, the beautiful Christian hostage; Vinicius, the young Roman general, who falls in love with, her; Petronins, courtier and cynic, who despises and flatters Nero with unfailing wit arid skill; Tigellinus, the warrior, the support of whose legion Nsaves his life at a critical moment; Poppaea, the Empress, fit mate for such as Nero; Eunice, the slave girl, devoted to Petronius in life and death; Ursus, the giant, whose tremendous strength is the salvation of Lygeia on more than one occasion and not a ifew others. The apostle Peter is represented exhorting his courageous and sorely-tried little flock as they worship in the catacomb's. The following artists will appear in a prologue : Messrs. Norman Aitken, Sydney Tingey, Lionel Lynch, and others. Box plans are on view at The Bristol, Aitken's Book Arcade, or reservations may be secured at the theatre.
