BECOBD SHOW.

The : .Hutt f Valley Horticultural; S6-; ciety's Spring Show was; opened 'this afternoon; at^the Lower Hutt, Town Hallbythe Mayor; (Mr. Strand). .; ' It; can safely be: said . that both for quantity and quality'; the -exhibits ihave never been previously excelled, the hall being filled, with /beautiful ''blooms, which everywhere: delight the eye. Tor narcissi the) seasonjhas. been a most favourable one,: and this class 'was exhibited in utmost' profusion and variety. I-One v of. the outstanding features of the; show is the delightful range.of cineraria,;shown by; Mr.: G-. "A/ Chapman, :-tlr equal of ■which; has not been seen here.before.: Mr. Chapman shqws; a* most artistic basket of scarlet .Oapembnes/ -.This ;flower has proved 'itself a favourite among exhibitors, .as there,are: noless than.twelye, entries, of anemones in the 'amateur; •section: alone.: Other outstanding,features are. Mrs. F. R. Cooper's fine exhibit;.of cut, flowers; and a similar exhibit from: Mr.. J. J. Eeich. Both" of •'these V show /great taste; and- : a wonderful (..variety,.. of bloom.', The grade-exhibit has,'never; been excelled. Mr. H. J. Poole, Mr. A. M' : Millau,: and Mr.' C. ;F. .Pilcher. each show fine ranges of rare and beautiful plants, 1 each :stan&\ having an; individuality of its own. Decorated classes are almost the entries for decorative "tables, which, of -late, years show somewhat of : "a.. decline, have recovered.
