GATHERING OF GAELS

IN GLASGOW NEXT YEAR.

A great gathering of Gaels is taking place in Glasgow in June, 1926, under the auspices of An Comunn Gaidhealach (the Highland Association).' To the efforts of this society are due in_ great measux'e the enormous increase in the past few years in the development of Gaelio literature and music,., and in the popularisation of Gaelic as a spoken language "■■■••■■ !-.. \ '■.:.-■'- .■';:•-.. .' ■■■ A:period of eighteen years lias elapsed sinoe any organised efiort on a large scale was made to' raise funds in support of the campaign for the preservation of Gaelic as a spoken tpngue, for the.popularising of its music,. the development of its. literature, r and the study and practice of Celtio art. The establishmant of a centre of Gaelio culture somewhere in tho Gaidhealtachd hai become one of the great ambitions of An Comunn. While it may not be practicable \ all at, onpe to set up such an institution, it is considered a beginning might be made by establishing an annual summer school which, if carefully, fostered, would gradually develop into a Celtic.college, in which Celtic literature, music, and art would' receive continuous and systematic

For the great Feill, .which An'.Conrann Oaidheaiaoh is holding" afc Glasgow in June of next year to enable it to carry out in their entirety the objects for which it exists, it is confidently hoped that the response in money and goods from Boots and Gaels at; Home and abroad will be I generous beyond all previous experience.
