STATEMENT BY STRIKE
OFFICIALS
SHIPS HELD UP AT LIVERPOOL.

LONDON, 27th August. The Seamen's Union asserts that the strike has collapsed.
The strikers' officials, however, declare that a strike committee lias been formed at Liverpool, where strong pickets are operating, and the steamers Canoptio and Adriatic are held up. The pickets also succeeded in stopping crews at Liverpool for the steamers Albania and Alinnewaska, which are delayed at London, where the crews will refuse to unload the vessels. Tho strikers, ate confident of holding out for a long time, and are receiving assistance from the stevedores, dockers, and lightermen. .
