MEETING OB ASSOCIATION.

The monthly meeting of the executive committee of the Wellington War llelief Association was held on Thursday, when there were present Messrs. L O. H. Tripp (chairman), A. Macintosh, C. Watson, A. yeitch, and C. M. Luke.

The Applications Committee reported that at the end of July, 181 cases were under action, of which 23 were new claims and 158 old cases. There were 75 cases still under action, the otliers (embodying 11 applications) having been disposed of. ■ , The Emergency Committee reported having dealt with S3 cases referred to above. The number of persons who had called at the office during the month was 267. Of these 154 applied for direct and 113 for indirect assistance.

The report stated that assistance of a \yide description had been given to partially disabled soldiers, to the widowed mothers, and widows of soldiers \yho fell in action, and also in other directions. The Finance Committee reported dealing with 31 applications, of which 15 were old cases and 16 new. The old cases were revised in regard to the original terms of payment, the amount involved being £1313, and the unpaid, balance totalling £933. The new applications involved an amount of £1927.* Seven applications were approved and nine, disclosing no evidence of war disability, were declined. The income and expenditure account for July disclosed income £1219 and expenditure £1174. The total funds available as at 31st July were stated at £29,858.
