ACCOUNTANTS
INCORPORATED INSTITUTE MEETS . , WINDING-UP CONSIDERED. The thirty-second annual general meeting of the Incorporated Institute of Accountants of New Zealand was held in the Accountants' Chambers yesterday afternoon. Mr. E. J. Harvey, of Blenheim, president, presided and there were also present Messrs. J. Hogg (Dunedin), W. M'Culloch (Napier), H. Bicknell and A. 0. Wilkinson (Christchurch), A. M. Seaman (Auckland), R. Davis (Palmerston North), William Power (Stratford), W. G. Walkley (Hawera), D. R. Menzies, C. E. Webb, and J. L. Arcus (Wellington). The report stated that there were fifteen new associates by examination, the number of members at the end of the year being 458, 214 fellows and 244 associates. The grant of £60 (making £270 to date) was expended upon books distributed to student societies. The.sum of £1248 10s was held invested in various ways and the accumulated fund stood at £1450: The report and balance-sheet were adopted on the motion of the president, who referred to the great benefit the institute had been to the cause of sound accountancy in New Zealand. The election of officers resulted in the appointment of Mr. A. M. Seaman (Auckland) as president, Mr. C. E. Webb (Wellington) vice-presi<if!nt, and Messrs. J. L. Arcus (Wellington), W. W. Bruce (Auckland), H. Bicknell (Christchurch). P. Barr (Dunedin), and E. J. Harvey (Blenheim) as members of council. Mr. D. B. Menzies and G. J. J. Feil, of Wellington, were reappointed treasurer and auditor respectively. Grants of £75 for university colleges and £60 for students' societies' libraries were made.
At a subsequent meeting of council, a committee consisting of Messrs. Menzies and Arcus (Wellington) and Barr and Hose (Dunedin) was set up to consider what eteps, if any, should be taken in respect to winding-up the institute, 6Uch committee to report to nest meeting of council.
