FEDERAL INACTION
TIME TO STUDY THE SITUATION. MELBOURNE, 27th August. Speaking at a meeting of the Federal Nationalist Party, Mr. Bruce said the present inaction was not due to a desire to back down, but to the reasonable desire to study the constitutional position, and tho probable effects of any attempt to utilise tho powers conferred on the Government by the Immigration Act. He added that he had not yet replied to General Hertzog's cable. It is unofficially stated that if no drastic action is taken the chipping crisis may be overcome.
