ST. MARK'S SALE OF WORK

Her Excellency Lady Alice Fergusson opened the annual sale of work of St. Mark's Parish yesterday afternoon, a guard of honour being formed by Rangers, Guides, Scouts, and Brownies. The vicar, the Rev. H. E. K. Fry, introducing Her Excellency, mentioned the pleasure that was felt throughout the parish afc her interest in St. Mark's, and in this particular effort. The money raised by the sale of work would go principally towards missionary commitments, and ho hoped all would assist to make the occasion a success from a social as well as a monetary viewpoint. Her Excellency was warmly received, and expressed her deep Interest in the parish to which she belonged, and, referring to the Guide movement, she promised to present the 6t. Mark's Company's colours as soon as they arrived from the Old Country, where she had sent for them. She urged all to buy from the attractive and fully-laden stalls, round which she afterwards made a tour. Varied items were given during the afternoon and an entertainment at. night, one of the chief items being a. sword danco, tho pai'ticipanta having been splendidly trained by Miss Fergusson. Tonight Mr. Norman Ait ken's concert party will be responsible for a.bright programme. Tho following undertook the management of the various stalls: '.Hie Ladies' Sewing Bee, St. Martha's Guild, G.F.S. (fancy and plain work), the Choir (flowers and plants), tho Sunday Shcool (fancy goods and bran tub), Young Men's Club (books and games, competitions), Mrs.' Lewis and Mrs. Bindley (cakes), Miss Fergus3on (sweets),. Miss Goldfinch . (refreshments), Mrs. Fitzmaurioe (produce), Mrs. Gordon Kemp (hardware), the Misses'" Bicknell (fancy and useful goods).
