WAIROA ON TOUR
DEFEATED BY WAIKATO FIFTEEN.
HAMILTON, 26th August.
A representative match, Waikato v. Wairoa, resulted in a win for Waikato by 9 points to 5. The ground was very heavy, and open play, was out of the question. It was mainly a forward game, in which Wairoa had all the better of the first half, while Waikato dominated the second spell. The Wairoa rearguard handled the ball much better than Waikato. This was Wairoa's first defeat on the present tour. Hingston scored a try for Wairoa in the first half, and Smith converted. Stoupe kicked a field goal for Waikato in the second spell, and Mitchell scored and converted.
