LAST EVENING'S FINALS
CHILDREN'S CHORUS TO-NIGHT.
AU aauions of the competition* yeiUrday were well attended, and' the audience at tha Town Hall last evening showed very plainly that it was well pleased with the programme put before it, for the general atandard of the items waa high, and there was, morcov^r^ a pleasing variety of music, song, and elocution. This evening tho society's pianoforte scholarship, open to competitors between the ages of 13 and 15, will be decided, and the children's chorus, open to Stato primary (schools, is another always attractive item, though this year there are only two entries, from the Solway School, Masterton, and the Palmerston North Central School. The remainder of the programme promisee very good entertainment.

Recitation, girls (under 0), "The Secret." —Final: Miss Ismay M'llroy, 85 points, 1; Miss Kathleen Read '(Christchurch), 84 points, 2; Miss Alison Kicoll, 75 points, 3.
Recitation in Character (not humorous), girls (12 and under 16), own selection. —Final : Miss Sinclair Breen, 83 points, 1; i\fis3 Zelnia Carroll (Masterton), 82 points, 2; Miss K. Bartush (Lower Hutt), 81 paints, 3. Highly commended : Misses Esme Evarm (Christchurch), Sadie Phillips Kathleen Chappie (Christchurch), and Maude Dalzell (Wanganui).
