INCITING TO STRIKE
HIGH COURT DECISION IN THE
' WALSH CASE.
SYDNEY, 17th August. The High Court delivered its reserved judgment in the appeal of Tom Walsh, president of the Seamen's Union, against his conviction on two charges heai'd in the Melbourne Police Court. The Court quashed one conviction, but the other, in which Walsh was fined £100, was allowed to stand.
[A charge against Walsh of inciting waterside, workers to strike was dismissed, the Court ruling that there was not sufficient evidence to support the charge. Walsh, however, was found guilty on two charges of inciting two union officials to do something in the nature of a.strike, and was fined £100 on one charge and £50 on the other.]
