CANDLESTICKS OF CRYSTAL
At one time a candlestick was just a bolder for a candle, nothing more; but recent years have brought all manner of candlesticks —ornamental, fantastic, or strictly utilitarian! They have been fashioned from brass, copper, lacquer, wood, china, and pewter, and the newest candlesticks of all are the loveliest. Ethereal enough to grace Titania's dining table are the candlesticks of crystal glass. Long and slender in shape, they are adorned half way up their stems with exquisitely moulded wreaths of diminutive flowers and frujts, marvellously coloured in jewel-bright blues, jadegreens, and translucent orange. They seem too fragile for clumsy mortals to use! Plain white candles, of an incredible slimness, and entirely innocent of the ordinary candle shade, are best for these candlestick's. If they are used to adorn the dining table, they should be arranged round a crystal dish, piled with shining glass -fruits. ' Yoij, may like to conceal a small electric bulb in the middle of the dish, so that the light .gleams through the glass apples, the glowing grapes, and the oranges. But the candle light alone gives a charming fairyliki effect.
