URGING FUSION
MR. ATMORE'S CAMPAIGN.
(II mEQSAPB.—SPECIAL TO TBI POST.)
HAWERA, This Day. Mr. H. Atmore, M.P., addressed a large meeting at Waverley last evening. Mr. Palmer, chairman of the Town Board, was in the chair. The speaker emphasised the necessity for the formation of a National Party, which could only be achieved by a complete fusion of the Reform and Liberal Parties. Each party, he said, had unanimously affirmed the necessity for a National Government, and the Labour Socialist Party had voted en bloc for the amendment.. The spectacle was present of Parliament failing to achieve that which each party had declared to be necessary in the interests of the people, and it was high time the people spoke plainly on the matter.
The speaker had a splendid reception, and at the conclusion of the meeting a motion was carried with only two dissentients ; on the lines of the Invercargill resolution.
Mr. J. A.- Hanan and Mr. Atmore will speak at Hawera on Monday evening, and at Patea on- Tuesday.
