LISTENERS-IN REPRESENTATION
A point in regard to the representation of listeners-in on the board of control of the broadcasting scheme was raised by Mr. P. Fraser (Wellington Central), in the House of Representatives last evening. Mr. Eraser pointed out that the hoard was to comprise one representative of tha broadcasting company, two officer* of the Post and Telegraph Department) rod one representative of the licensees. Xhere were about 4000 owners of wireiess sets in the Dominion, and they were to have one representative on the board, who was to hold office for five years. In a few years that representative- might he representing possibly 30,000 licensees. He submitted that-they should have larger representation on the board. He had also been asked to suggest that no persons should be eligible for election to tho. hoard who had any possible relation ■with the Poet OfEcu.
The Prime Minister stated, in reply, that ho considered the- listening-in licensees wer.o thoroughly covered in the proposed representation, and that at any time when satisfaction was not being given the Government could step in and take the thing over. .
