Cricket generally this summer is meeting with bad weather., and gameß during the past week were again interfered with by rain.

Somerset, playing Hampshire at Taunton, in the first innings made 104, A. Kennedy taking five wickets for 32 runs and G. S. Boyes five for 43. In the second innings the side made 199 (J. Daniell 72), Kennedy taking seven for 74. Hampshire declared in the first innings when eight wickets had fallen for 272 runs (C. P. Mead not out 80, A. Bowell 63), J. C. White taking four wickets for 65 runs, and in the second innings lost no wickets for 33 runs. Hampshire won by ten wickets. Playing at Canterbury against Sussex, Kent's first innings was declared when eight wickets had fallen for 349 (H. T. W. Hardirige 83, F. E. Wolley 118). Sussex in the first innings made 196 (A. C. Watson 53), C. S. Marriott taking five wickets for 64 runs. In the second innings Sussex were all out for 156, A. P. Freeman taking five for 53. Kent won by an innings and 17 runs. Essex, playing against Lancashire at Blackpool, could only reach 98 in the first innings, Sibbles taking three wickets for 17 runs and- F. Watson four for 26. In the second innings Essex lost seven wickets for 184 runs. Lancashire's first innings was declared when seven wickets- had fallen for 203 (J. Sharp not out 58). L. C. Eastman taking four wickets for 45 runs. The match was drawn.

Playing for Gloucestershire against Middlesex, at Bristol, O. Parker took six wickets for 120 runs. The match was drawn.

Playing for Warwickshire against Glamorgan at Birmingham, N. E. Partridge took five wickets for 56 runs, and for Glamorgan F. Ryan took five for 72. Warwickshire won.

Playing for Derbyshire against Northamptonshire at Northampton, A. Marton took five wickets for 89 runs. The ma"tch was drawn.
