In connection with the production of the reported new synthetic fuel, which will be marketed under the name of "Synthol," it is stated that it may be manufactured from petroleum, coal, or lignite. Its base, according to analysts, who have tested the product, is benzol, several varieties o£ alcohol, and a mysterious metallic catalyst, not unlike tetraethyl lead, make up the mixture. Its action in the hew motor, designed for its use, is said to be more nearly like steam power than that of any other internal combustion engine yet devised.'
