THE CURTAIN-RAISER
The Wellington ladies' team encountered little difficulty in their game against Otaki Maoris, played as a cur-tain-raiser to the Test match. Tho Wellington vanguard was superior to the Maori forward line, and gave a good exhibition. The visiting team's backs did clever work, and stemmed many a dangerous sally. Misses Wilkins, Harper, and Williams showed up well in the Wellington forward line, and. they received good support from the left half, Miss H. Kitto. Wellington scored six goals before the final whistle sounded, and Otaki scored once from the stick of Miss Bevin. The scorers for Wellington were Misses Williams (4), Heskins, and Wilkins. Messrs. W. Keys and R. Lloyd were the referees. During the afternoon selections were played bjifche silver band from H.M.S. Dunedin.
